Mizuhiki x Floral Arranging Workshop<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

At the end of last year, I ran a workshop in Ota City, Tokyo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This event was a collaboration with a floral arrangement instructor, where participants created elegant interior decorations that could also be used for New Year\u2019s celebrations. These designs combined Mizuhiki with arrangements of white Ping Pong (Chrysanthemum)<\/em> flowers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Participants first practiced the basic techniques of the Awaji<\/em> and Ume <\/em>knots. Then, they selected colors that resonated with them and crafted their own unique Mizuhiki decorations. These completed Mizuhiki pieces added a refined touch to their floral arrangements, enhancing their overall design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The final creation, as shown in the picture below, featured not only the Ume<\/em> (plum) knot but also Mizuhiki elements inspired by Matsu <\/em>(pine) and Take<\/em> (bamboo), bringing a festive New Year\u2019s atmosphere to the designs. Pine, bamboo, and plum are considered auspicious symbols in Japan, often associated with good fortune during the New Years season. This blend of Japanese tradition and floral artistry resulted in truly distinctive pieces.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
