昨年の年末の一時帰国中に、東京・大田区でワークショップを開催しました。

今回はフラワーアレンジメント教室を主宰されている方とのコラボレーション企画で、白いピンポンマムのアレンジメントに水引を組み合わせ、お正月飾りにもなる華やかなインテリアデコレーションを作りました。

参加者の皆さまには、まず「あわじ結び」と「梅結び」の基本的な技法を練習していただき、その後、それぞれが惹かれる色を選んでオリジナルの水引飾りをいくつか作成していただきました。完成した水引は、アレンジメントを引き立てるアクセントとして楽しんでいただけるようにいたしました。

今回の作品では、梅結びのほか、松結びや竹をイメージした水引も取り入れ、お正月らしいおめでたい雰囲気を演出しています。和と花の美しい融合を、ぜひご覧いただければ幸いです。

Mizuhiki x Floral Arranging Workshop

At the end of last year, I ran a workshop in Ota City, Tokyo.

This event was a collaboration with a floral arrangement instructor, where participants created elegant interior decorations that could also be used for New Year’s celebrations. These designs combined Mizuhiki with arrangements of white Ping Pong (Chrysanthemum) flowers.

Participants first practiced the basic techniques of the Awaji and Ume knots. Then, they selected colors that resonated with them and crafted their own unique Mizuhiki decorations. These completed Mizuhiki pieces added a refined touch to their floral arrangements, enhancing their overall design.

The final creation, as shown in the picture below, featured not only the Ume (plum) knot but also Mizuhiki elements inspired by Matsu (pine) and Take (bamboo), bringing a festive New Year’s atmosphere to the designs. Pine, bamboo, and plum are considered auspicious symbols in Japan, often associated with good fortune during the New Years season. This blend of Japanese tradition and floral artistry resulted in truly distinctive pieces.
